TITHING AND GIVING
The Stewardship and Finance team of PCWM exists to create disciples for God’s Kingdom
- By promoting scripture-based giving
- By ensuring safety and soundness of God’s money
- By using His funds for the work He puts before us
Giving is the means by which God’s community is strengthened in the New Testament. In 2 Corinthians 9:6-11, each person is to decide how much they can give and then give it cheerfully. It is incumbent on the giver to seek to discern what the Lord may be prompting or leading them to give. We choose to use the word giving instead of tithing because tithing can be legalistic. Pastor Jason is convinced that tithing can be a legalistic burden for those in true poverty or people stretched thin just to provide for their family. If you are stretched, we ask you pray and then decide with the Lord a regular, faithful amount you will set aside in joyful thanks.
Have you thought about making our community of faith part of your legacy? God often uses these gifts at providential times to support the ongoing work of Christ. You also can designate how you desire your legacy to be used. For example some have asked that their money be used to purchase a particular needed item, a particular ministry, or used for the day-to-day operations of the church.
Please pray and ask God’s will. Our community gives thanks to those who have remembered us – they have truly blessed us in ways that glorify Christ every week in our ongoing fellowship together.
God honors those who give both in the present and as saints in light. Our giving is a concrete expression of our faith in action, blessing others as we have been blessed by God’s loving grace. Thank you for your consideration.
